Adam Gaffney, MD MPH is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a pulmonary and critical care physician at the Cambridge Health Alliance. Dr. Gaffney’s research focuses on healthcare access and equity, with an emphasis on barriers faced by patients with pulmonary disease.  Other research interests include prescription drug affordability and national healthcare reform.  Dr. Gaffney also writes regularly for a general audience on matters of health policy, and is the author of To Heal Humankind: The Right to Health in History, published by Routledge in 2017.  He serves as president of the nonprofit research and advocacy organization Physicians for a National Health Program, and is a frequent commentator on matters of health policy in the media.  Dr. Gaffney received his medical degree from New York University and his MPH from Harvard.  He completed his residency at the Columbia University Medical Center, where he served as chief resident, and completed fellowship training in the Harvard program for pulmonary and critical care medicine, a joint program of Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Woman’s Hospital, and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
